About

Hello and thank you for visiting my website for Charlotte Brett Photography.
I am a landscape and travel photographer based in the South East of England in the beautiful county of Kent, but also on the edge of the hustle and bustle of London.
Although I’ve been living in the south of England for almost ten years now, I grew up in an area in the North West called Saddleworth, situated in the Pennine Hills and on the edge of the Peak District National Park and because of this, I have always had a love for nature and the outdoors. My interest in photography started at the age of 17 when I visited Iceland with school and was awe-struck by the stunning landscape. I captured as many photos as I could using my Mum's compact film camera that she had lent to me for the trip and won the photography competition that the school held afterwards. The following summer I bought my very own small Canon compact (Canon Powershot A85 - it was a very good little camera!) and my passion for photography really began. That was back in 2004 when digital photography was really taking off and becoming accessible.
Since then, photography has not only become a passion, but a way of life. There's something so special and rewarding about capturing that one moment in time that can never again be replicated and preserving it forever; whether it’s shooting an amazing colourful sunset at the coast, or capturing the unique culture of a place whilst on my travels. Ultimately though, it's about producing an image to be proud of and for others to enjoy and I always want my images to speak to the viewer in some way.
With my passion to see the world and experience life in different cultures, I have been fortunate to photograph some amazing places from my travels, including China, Morocco, Cuba, the Seychelles, Ecuador, India and many European cities. It is my hope to continue visiting as many diverse places as possible once the current pandemic ends and travel can resume - my bucket list is ever-growing! When not travelling, I try to get out in the UK landscape whenever I can and in 2021 I have my sights on the Scottish Highlands and Skye, coronavirus restrictions permitting of course.
Photography has been passed down the generations in my family, from my Grandfather (who had his very own dark room in his house) to my Mum and now to me. My Mum especially has really inspired and encouraged my photography and, as a wholly self-taught photographer, I have her to thank for many of the skills I have acquired. I must also thank my husband for his unfailing patience in allowing everything in our lives to revolve around my photography! I’m glad to be able to share my passion with so many other talented photographers to which photography means so much; the photography community here in the UK is a small world and I am fortunate to have got to know so many kind and inspirational fellow photographers over the years.
I hope you enjoy my work and please feel free to contact me or sign the guest book if you enjoy your visit and want to let me know. Prints can be made available on request and please contact me for more information.
I am also delighted to be represented by 4Corners Images (a premium travel photo agency based in London with clients such as National Geographic, Lonely Planet and Rough Guides), for worldwide commercial licensing of my work. Please contact me or them directly to discuss your requirements if you are looking to use my images in an editorial feature or advertisement, or if you wish to commission me for an assignment. I would love to work with you.
Best wishes,
Charlotte
